| Hi all.
I'll use this thread to share any articles / info / prayer points in relation to the forthcoming US presidential election. Feel free to join in. From a spiritual perspective, I believe that it is very significant, as Obama is not confining his humanistic principles to the US.
Personally, I hope that Mitt Romney wins. He may be a Mormon, but he is more likely to uphold key Christian values such as the biblical definition of marriage and the sanctity of life (i.e. anti-abortion), than Obama. In contrast, the Democrats (like Labour under Tony Blair) don't do God, but do do homosexuality.

| Yes I can see your viewpoint in that Nige but I wonder if the mormon does God at all, maybe he does morals but thats all, in that situation I would abstain from voting and let God be the judge as He will be anyway. There is a verse that says He appoints all leaders but havent the time to look it up. America is in a bad way and really does need prayer. | |

| I do see your point Nige, but I do struggle to see what the real difference between them is, as neither honours the true God, it seems a choice of the frying pan or the fire to me. | |

| Hi Anne, Hetty The main concern I have is that when I look at the secular agenda that is at work in the West, the human rights aspect, with homosexuality being a key aspect is being used to implement change. Christians are increasingly finding themselves falling foul of this. Obama is not just confining his activities to the United States. This is from the Democratic National Platform: - Quote :
- Gay Rights as Human Rights. Recognizing that gay rights are human rights, the President and his administration have vowed to actively combat efforts by other nations that criminalize homosexual conduct or ignore abuse. Under the Obama administration, American diplomats must raise the issue wherever harassment or abuse arises, and they are required to record it in the State Department's annual report on human rights. And the State Department is funding a program that finances gay rights organizations to combat discrimination, violence, and other abuses.(1)
Currently falling foul of this are several African countries, and indeed Obama (and David Cameron!) have been trying to make their provision of aid dependent on these countries changing their stance. Having watched extensive highlights of the Democratic National Convention, it was evident that those that uphold the biblical definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman are seen as discriminating against gay people. How long before all Christians who uphold the biblical definition of marriage are seen as an enemy of the state? It is for this reason that I am seeing this election as significant from a spiritual perspective. Romney will not be perfect, but I do not believe that he will further this agenda of the enemy if he is elected the next president of the United States. | I could not vote for a mormon. Their religion is so antichristian.
Personally I wouldn't vote for either of them.

| Two matters.
Why are the links for admin only. Are the things just admin or are they something private?
Re. Romney. He is a demon worshipper, planning to be god and expecting to live with many wives and produce spirit chuildren to come to earth.
I couldn't support him.

| Neither are perfect, very far from it. Obama has so much that is anti-christian about him that I would even go as far as to say he too is a demon-worshipper. Why be so against biblical marriage only? Why not do something about the 100's of 1,000's of babies slaughtered each year? There are very few truly Christian politicians in the world | |

| I agree Romney is more "christian" in his political ideas.
But I am really worried that he is getting support from people who are willing to call him christian.
Don't they make any attempt to find out what he belives, and see how antichristian his belefs are.
The mormon beiefs are horrifying

| I dont for a minute think Romney will alter anything already done by previous Presidents if he gets in, I'm very wary of a Mormon getting in. Obama says he is Christian and has said this on many occasions. One thing I've noticed as I've got to know more American Christians and that is Republican and Christian go together. As for America it has never been a godly nation for many years now. San Fransisco is full of homosexuality and that goes back years, An American preacher said ''how can we call our nation a Godly nation? where can you see any of the Holy Spirit in it? '' As for Bush although the man had a Christian background, he led us into the biggest sham of a war and opened up a complete hornets nest. He pleaded for democracy in Gaza and got Hamas and he pleaded for democracy in the whole of the middle east and got chaos..you should have been careful what you wish for Mr Bush | |

| It's just so hard. There's no doubt that if Obama gets in again Homosexual marriage will happen shortly after. | |

| Not so. Some states had introduced it, but the senate over-ruled and the laws changed back. It's one of those strange quirks with the USA. States can decide what age etc people can marry, but not change the status of marriage, although many try (including marrying people to animals ) With some states it's a case of just going ahead with anything until they are told not to, very strange system. | |
