Well it said the recession is over in one breadth yet others are saying we maybe heading for a triple dip recession. See Argos is closing 100 shops and Ford is cutting jobs. Its really quite worrying for the young ones coming up. I believe they won't be looking to buy houses anymore, we are turning more like Europe where letting and renting are the most viable options.

Some one rich has to own the houses to rent them.

I am very glad I no longer have a mortgage.

I'm sitting on the fence with this one. A tiny rise in GDP etc, does not a boom make, so I can't see how the recession can be over, but for sanity's sake we need to hope it is.

We are told that unemployment is down, yet I know from T's experience that there are still very few jobs around, and the one's that are, are not enough hours to pay rent & CT, let alone to live on.
I know from a list I found that my shopping bill has been hiked by 20%-ish in just 1 year.
Claudia wants to be married next year, but even renting will be difficult for them as average rents in our area are now over £100 pw.

It's all a bit confusing, as we live in a similar area to Stokes & others, where most industry died with the mines & potteries, yet our rents don't reflect our status.
Watching Homes under the Hammer, we see houses like our being valued at around 30-40% less than the equivilent in our area.

Sounds rough.

Unemployment is down but there is still too much.

I have three refugees I try tio help.

One lives in central birmingham and has managed to get a job in Pershore a half hour drive every morning and eveiong with the corressponding cost of petrol. So money is very short. (He has a BSc in mech eng)

Another one has electronic training but can't get a job, except casual cleaning work.

The third is bright and attractive with good CGSEs but can't get any work.

Life is difficult for them.

John, never believe that unemployment is down.

T doesn't count in the figures as he's on an employment programme, yet he's still umemployed. This is the case with so many.

He's been to a session today and came home with a letter stating he has to apply for 7 advertised jobs a week, and find 50 companies he could right to, to be completed in 3 weeks.

He goes after every job he hears about, but our local paper has about 2 a weeks, if that. The only way he can possibly complete the list is to apply for jobs he isn't qualified for, are too few hours to live on, or too far away to get to.

Your refugee who has transport is very blessed indeed.
